Ancient Craft Masons date from the creation of the world.

Anno Lucius (A.L.) – “In the year of Light” and adds 4000 to the common time.
The year 2001 becomes 6001.

Royal Arch Masons date from the completion of the second temple by Zerubbabeil,

Anno Inventionis (A.I.) – “In the year of Discovery”. This adds 530 to the common time. The year 2001 becomes 2531..

The Order of High Priesthood date from the blessing of Abraham by Melchizedek, High Priest & King of Salem.

Anno Benedictionis (A.B.) -“In the year of Blessing” and adds 1913 to the common time. The year 2001 becomes 3914.

Royal and Select Masters date from the completion of the Temple of Solomon.

Anno Depositionis (A.D.) – “In the year of the Deposit” and adds 1000 to the common time. The year 2001 becomes 3001.

Knights Templar date from the organization of their order.

Anno Ordinis (A.O.) – “In the year of the Order”. This deducts 1,118 from the common time. The year 2001 becomes 883.

The Scottish Rite date the same as Ancient Craft Masons, except for the use of the Jewish Chronology.

Anno Mundi (A.M.) – “In the year of the World” and adds 3760 to the common time. The year 2001 becomes 5761
